We are so excited to announce the introduction of our gorgeous

Blue French bulldogs to our home and breeding program

This is one of the most controversy of all the colors

This blue color is a natural expansion to extend our color spectrum. We have loved the Blue French bulldog color for some time and we think this color is beautiful to look at. We wouldn't breed them until we were sure we could produce quality healthy puppies with the blues first. Which is why we have spent a many years researching this beautiful rare color before adding them to our breeding program.

After our research what we found is, the Blue(gray) color comes from a rare gene called the dilute gene (d) which changes the coat color from black to blue (gray)and is also responsible for the change in eye color. It is this rare gene (d) that makes the Blue French bulldogs RARE which reflects a large part of their higher price then regular colored French bulldogs. “Blue French bulldogs are still very RARE”. It is because of this rarity and lack of quality breeders. Blue French bulldogs are also expensive for a number of other reasons: They are generally able to deliver only by Caesarean Section, generally have smaller litters, usually have to be artificially inseminated, progesterone testing, blood tests, ultra sounds and no price can be put on the endless hours the breeder has to spend on the care, love, attention and the vets bills that is required and needed in order to raise healthy parents and quality puppies. For a breeder to start with good healthy quality stock prices for their females and males can range from $5500 to $12,000.

Rare colors are extremely controversial in the Frenchie world because of the common misconception that they are more prone to genetic faults than other colors which is biased and unfounded. Any color can carry problems.

The color BLUE does not affect the health of the French bulldog, there is no factual biological evidence that supports the notion that any particular coat color, including blue, is responsible for health & temperament issues in the French bulldog breed and NO PROVEN FACT that the blue coat color has anymore health issues that the normal colored French bulldog. This does not mean to say that the blue French bulldog will never have health issues, there are health issues in every breed but by being a responsible breeder to our dogs we are doing our very best for this beautiful breed! Health issues in any breed is not due to the color of the dog, but down to poor breeding judgment and inbreeding, we are more concerned with the quality of the dog and the integrity of the breeder rather than the dog's coat color!

The blue color in French bulldogs is extremely hard to produce because it is a recessive trait and only comes out in puppies when both parents carry the gene.

There is fear that the blue French bulldog will suffer coat or skin problems but this is again unfounded. It is evident that skin and coat issues exist in many breeds regardless of the color of the coat.

WE learned during our research there is no clear “beginning” with the blue colored dogs. Fact is, there are many types of breeds that carry this rare dilute gene (d) and the French bulldogs are no different. It is a naturally occurring gene, it is NOT a defect!! When you speak of the gene pool for French bulldogs you must include the dilute gene (d), as it DOES exist in our breed.

There are breeders that believe the blue French bulldogs will “pollute” the gene pool. However, we feel since the dilute gene (d) has been in the gene pool since the beginning and merely affects the hair and eye color, has no bearing on the dogs confirmation, temperament or health, how could the dilute gene (d) be considered to be contaminate.

For these reasons and NO know facts to health issues caused by the dilute gene (d) , we made a decision to add the blue French bulldogs to our breeding program.

So we ask the question.... Why are blue French bulldogs not allowed in the breed standard?? The ONLY answer we got when we asked this question was, the blue color in French bulldog is considered to be an undesirable color, as well as the chocolate/liver colored French bulldogs which are also rare. This may have been the case in 1911 when the disqualifications were first written, but doesn't seem to be the case now. Blue French bulldogs are more popular now then ever before and are in high demand. We feel, if the only know reason the blue colored French bulldogs was not included in the breed standard was because it was an undesirable color back then, and the blue color is desirable now, why shouldn't the breed standard include the blue French bulldogs and why shouldn't they be shown. The Canadian Kennel Club does register blue French bulldogs. The Canadian Kennel Club does not write the breed standards. The parent club for each recognized breed writes the standard for their respective breed.

We are aware that blue French bulldogs remain the topic of a much heated controversy. We know there will be those that will disagree with our decision, this is your right and we respect that. But on the other hand know it is also our right to own and breed blue French bulldogs if we so desire. We don't care to argue our decision with anyone so PLEASE do NOT contact us with your opinion. We feel we did our research , we love the blue French bulldogs and have for quite some time. We couldn't find ANYTHING solid enough to prove or link the dilute gene (d) to health related issues in the blue French bulldogs. With this being said we based our decision on our findings and what we feel in our hearts.

Our advise to any one thinking about purchasing a blue French bulldog is to consider the reputation and integrity of the breeder first and foremost and to be concerned primarily with the health of the dog rather than the color. To research the facts for yourselves, not to trust any one source or one side of this debate because everyone has presuppositions that influence how they view this subject.
